Hi Toolbox Fans,
I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday weekend. Now it is time to take stock of the year ahead and where the opportunities lie. The markets will open the year tomorrow morning and I am quite sure that 2012 will be every bit as interesting as 2011 was.
I just finished updating the long-term market timing model in the Research Lab and I feel pretty good about where things stand right now. We are on the sidelines in 8 of the 10 holdings with one holding moving to the sidelines just at the close of the year.
If you are not yet a member of the Research Lab I will give you a quick rundown on how the portfolio is doing.
Last trade in GLD was up 75.6%, We are positive on our two open positions and the others that are closed posted gains of 87%, 67%, 8%, 3 posted just better than 7% gains and we had one that posted a 13% draw down.
The drawdown came on DBA and it was posted after the previous trade made a 22% gain. The market timing portfolio is for long-term investors and only gets updated once a month. It has a 23 year track record with every year showing a profit with the exception of 2008 which posted a 1% drawdown. Just another great benefit of Research Lab membership.
The Trade Plan set-ups for swing trading posted a 40% gain last year and tonight I hope to get the ROI on the campaign trades from the Swing Trading Club.
