November 6, 2011 Dear Toolbox Readers,
Over the weekend we have seen all kinds of headlines coming from the EU and some real shockers coming from the CME and ICE. After the close on Friday the CME sent out a poorly worded release that had everyone freaking out about margin requirements and the blogosphere exploded with speculation of a HUGE sell-off come Monday.
It turns out that the margin requirements are being loosened and all the excitement was all about nothing... However, loosening the requirements might even be WORSE news as now people are free to lever things up even more!
We'll be watching the futures open tonight and see how things shake out. You should be at the show with us and see what the first glance looks like.
ALSO... there is a lot of saber rattling going on about Israel planning an attack on Iran. That should go a long way to reducing tensions geopolitically and it should also provide a calming influence for already skiddish markets.
