October 1, 2010 ~ IN THIS ISSUE...
Dear Toolbox Readers,
This week we closed out the third quarter with a bang. The best September since 1939 and just one of four great Septembers since 1896. Historically September is the worst month of the year for stocks although it seems most "crashes" occur in October.
Those of you that follow our long-term market timing model will notice that we are now on a buy for the S&P but... not so fast. I would not actually "pull the trigger on getting back in until we can break through the downward sloping overhead resistance line.
It is just a few point higher than where we are now and given that the end of the quarter led to some "window dressing" and that lately the first of the new month has been very strong... I am going to wait until next week and see what develops. If we can break the trend line I would be more inclined to "get back in".
Aside from that the market today was less than impressive. We opened up big and slid all morning. We didn't see any great set-ups today and didn't get into any trades on the morning show today.
Next week will be pivotal in the overall scheme of things and I can't wait to see what we get. We will be live in the Research Lab on Monday, Wednesday & friday mornings marking up the charts and watching it all unfold so if you would like to give it a try, I encourage you to get a trial and check it out.
