08/04/13 ~ The Week Ahead...
Dear Toolbox Readers,
Well we had an interesting week last week. It was loaded with economic data that met and or missed expectations and the market basically didn't really care.
Good news is good news and bad news is good news right now. Any economic weakness is met with more buying as people believe that the Fed will continue to print more money.
I can't say that I blame them... I mean the trend is clear right? It is all working out just fine right?
This week we have very light economic data in the US but earnings will continue to pour in for the next week or so. In times like this there are HUGE opportunities in individual stocks. There are pitfalls as well and any earnings release can lead to radical action in stock prices.
Just last Friday we had a stock pop onto the grid at 9:46 am at $4.85. It closed the day before at $4.20 so it was already up about 15%. WOW what a move, and right out of the gate.
By 10:40am it had reached up to $5.63... UP 34%!
By noon Eastern it was at $6.12... up a cool 45%. Holy Smokes!
At 1pm it was $6.33... up 50% and still going.
By 1:30 it was up at $8.26, a staggering 96% in a single session!
GET this... at 2:30 it triggered another signal to BUY! at $7.49... oh come on right?
By 3:30 this stock was at $8.99, up a ridiculous 114% and the profit taking started in earnest.
This stock closed the day at $7.26 and a 74.76% gain on the day.
Another interesting stock popped onto the grid first thing in the morning... it had gapped down about 10% from the previous close at 34.11. By the end of the session it was up 1.14% from the previous day have gained back all the opening gap and then some.
We see some crazy action like this pretty much on a day to day basis in the Research Lab. If you want to get in on the action... just pop over and join. If not... well...
