As we set off for the official start of summer and the 3 day weekend here in the states, there is never a better time to take a look at where we are so far this year.
The S&P is up about 14% or so as I write this and that is a pretty good year by any measure. Having just pulled back a bit from the new all time highs people are left wondering if we still have a chance to "sell in May". We do... But should we?
Time will tell.
Following the many strategies we watch in the Research Lab we are seeing "warning shots" and there is every possibility that 60 days from now we will be looking at a much lower market.
The market Timing model we use has been pretty on the money so far and we'll continue to monitor with a special eye on the end of this month. The stock picks have just been going crazy with some HUGE short-term winners. I expect to see more volatility and opportunity in individual stocks as the market figures out what it wants to do.
